Bloomington West sits on the western shores of Clinton Lake in Douglas County, Kansas, offering a dedicated group camping experience for large gatherings and family reunions. The campground features 25 individual sites within a single reservable group area, with four sites providing 20/30 amp electric and water hookups while the remainder are non-electric. A modern restroom facility with flush toilets and hot showers serves campers, along with drinking water hydrants throughout the grounds. Recreational amenities make this an ideal destination for group events, including a softball field, sand volleyball court, horseshoe pits, basketball court, playground, and a large group shelter with a communal grill. Direct access to the South Shore Trail system provides opportunities for hiking, biking, and equestrian exploration through the surrounding Kansas countryside. Clinton Lake itself offers excellent fishing for crappie, walleye, channel catfish, and white bass, with a boat ramp available at the campground. Wildlife viewing is popular, with bald eagles, white-tailed deer, and wild turkey commonly seen in the area.

Directions

From Lawrence, Kansas, take 6th Street/Highway 40 west for 4 miles. Turn left onto Douglas County Road 442 and continue 5 miles to Stull. Turn left onto Douglas County Road 1023 and go 6 miles to Douglas County Road 6. Turn left and go 4 miles to Douglas County Road 4. Turn right and go 0.5 miles, then turn left on the first gravel road. The park entrance is 0.25 miles ahead on the left.
