About

Slide Creek Campground occupies a scenic setting at the springs feeding Slide Creek, surrounded by aspen and subalpine fir at the edge of the Jarbidge Wilderness in Nevada's remote northeast corner. The campground serves as a staging area for the Slide Creek Trail, which provides access to the wilderness for hiking, backpacking, hunting, and horse-supported trips. The campground offers 6 sites on hard-packed, level ground suitable for tents and small trailers up to approximately 25 feet. Facilities are minimal: a single vault toilet and horse corrals adjacent to the camping area. No potable water is available, so campers must bring their own supply. Horses are permitted in the corrals but not within the campground itself. The Jarbidge Wilderness is one of the original wilderness areas designated by the 1964 Wilderness Act, encompassing over 113,000 acres of terrain ranging from 5,000-foot desert valleys to peaks exceeding 10,000 feet. The area's extreme remoteness keeps visitation low.

Directions

Located in the Jarbidge area of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest in Elko County, Nevada. Access requires travel on remote forest roads. The nearest town is Jarbidge, though access may require routing through Idaho and back into Nevada due to road conditions.
