This spring creates a pleasant atmosphere and provides a unique feature that sets this campground apart from others in the region. The location provides excellent opportunities for hiking, biking, and wildlife watching. The surrounding ponderosa pine forest offers shade and the chance to observe birds and other wildlife. Many trails are nearby, including access to the Sisters Wilderness trail system. The close proximity to the town of Sisters provides convenient access to additional amenities, dining, and attractions when needed. Cold Springs Campground operates seasonally from early May through mid-October, with access dependent on Highway 242 conditions. The scenic McKenzie Pass Highway itself is a historic route that closes for winter from November through mid-June due to heavy snowfall at the pass elevation. The campground features vault toilets and hand-pumped drinking water during the operating season, with the water system typically activated in May and shut down by September 30 to prevent freeze damage.
