About

Silver Creek Campground is situated along the scenic Truckee River in Tahoe National Forest, offering a convenient basecamp between Truckee and Lake Tahoe. The campground is nestled in a forest of lodgepole pine and fir, with sites ranging from heavily shaded to open. Seven walk-in tent-only sites provide prime river views, while other sites are closer to Highway 89. The Truckee River provides excellent opportunities for fly-fishing rainbow trout, swimming, and tubing during summer months. The surrounding area features abundant hiking and mountain biking trails, including access to the Western States Trail, Five Lakes Trail, and the Pacific Crest Trail. The campground's central location makes it an ideal base for exploring the region, with Prosser, Boca, and Stampede Reservoirs to the north and Lake Tahoe and Olympic Valley to the south. Truckee is just 10 minutes north, offering restaurants, shopping, and services, while Lake Tahoe lies 10 minutes south with additional recreational opportunities including boating, kayaking, and scenic drives. Other nearby attractions include Donner Camp Interpretive Trail, Overland Emigrant Commemorative Trail, Stampede Reservoir Recreation Area, and the Prosser Pits OHV area. Highway 89 road noise is audible at some sites.
