About
Donner Memorial State Park Campground is located on the southeast shore of Donner Lake in the Sierra Nevada mountains at approximately 6,000 feet elevation. The campground offers 154 sites spread across three loops: Ridge, Splitrock, and Creek. Each campsite includes a picnic table and a bear-resistant food locker (36" deep x 43" wide x 28" high). The campground provides access to over two miles of Donner Lake shoreline with a beach area, fishing for kokanee and planted trout, and a lakeside interpretive trail. The park contains over 8 miles of hiking trails, including connections to the historic Emigrant Trail, U.S. Forest Service trails, and the Pacific Crest Trail. The Emigrant Trail Museum and iconic Pioneer Monument are located within the park, offering visitors insight into the Donner Party, Native American history, and transcontinental railroad construction.
