About

Donner Memorial State Park campground sits at the eastern end of Donner Lake in the Sierra Nevada, just two miles west of Truckee. The park's 154 campsites are divided among three loops: Ridge, Splitrock, and Creek, each with its own combination restroom and shower building. Every site comes equipped with a picnic table and a metal bear-resistant food locker (36" deep, 43" wide, 28" high) as food storage is required by law. The campground is ideal for tent campers and smaller RVs. Maximum lengths are 24 feet for trailers and 28 feet for motorhomes. There are no hookups at any site. Accessible campsites are available in all three loops with paved routes to shower and restroom facilities. Dogs are allowed but must remain leashed and attended at all times. Activities include swimming, fishing, and hiking along lakeside trails. The Emigrant Trail Museum in the park interprets the history of the Donner Party and early Sierra crossings. Firewood is available at the campground kiosk for $10.
