About

Prosser Family Campground occupies a forested setting of Jeffrey pine and fir on the western shore of Prosser Reservoir, roughly four miles north of Interstate 80 via Highway 89. The reservoir is popular for canoeing, swimming, and fishing, with power boating permitted at speeds up to 10 mph. A boat ramp is located half a mile away at Prosser Ranch Group Campground. The campground offers 29 standard nonelectric single-family sites, each equipped with a picnic table, campfire ring with grill, and bear-resistant food locker. Vault toilets are available. Firewood may be purchased from the campground host when available. The surrounding Tahoe National Forest provides extensive hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding trails, plus access to the Prosser Pits OHV area, though non-street-legal OHVs must be trailered from the campground. Nearby attractions include Boca Reservoir for water skiing, the historic town of Truckee with full services, and Lake Tahoe 30 minutes to the south.

Directions

From Truckee, take Highway 89 north approximately 4 miles from I-80. Turn right at the Prosser Recreation Area sign onto the paved road. Prosser Family Campground is on the left in approximately 1.5 miles, past Lakeside Campground.
