Goose Meadows Campground occupies a scenic location along the Truckee River, midway between Tahoe City and Truckee on Highway 89. The facility features 24 developed campsites nestled within a lodgepole pine and fir forest, with most sites shaded and all within a short walk of the river. The campground is managed by Tahoe National Forest and provides vault toilets and drinking water from faucets. The Truckee River is the main attraction, offering excellent fly-fishing opportunities for rainbow trout, as well as swimming and tubing during the summer months. The surrounding area provides access to numerous hiking and biking trails, including the Pacific Crest Trail, Western States Trail, and Five Lakes Trail. The campground's central location makes it an ideal base for exploring the region, with Prosser, Boca, and Stampede reservoirs to the north and Lake Tahoe just 30 minutes to the south. Campers should note that highway noise from adjacent Highway 89 is audible from the campground. Bears are active in the area, and food storage in the provided bear lockers is mandatory. Limited turnaround space restricts RVs longer than 30 feet, and off-highway vehicles must be trailered to designated routes. The town of Truckee, just 10 minutes north, offers full amenities including restaurants, grocery stores, and gas stations.
