About
Alpine Meadow Campground is a quiet, off-the-beaten-path destination located at Martis Creek Lake, managed by the US Army Corps of Engineers. Situated in the Sierra Nevada just 3 miles south of I-80 on Highway 267, the campground provides easy access to Truckee, Lake Tahoe, and Reno while maintaining a peaceful alpine setting among pine trees.
The campground features 24 standard non-electric sites, many of which are lakefront with paved driveways. Each site includes a fire ring, picnic table, bear box, lantern hook, and grill. Vault toilets are available throughout the campground, and potable water can be filled at the campground entrance. Maximum vehicle length is 30 feet, and sites accommodate up to 8 people with a maximum of 2 vehicles.
Recreation options include a 4.3-mile hiking and biking trail that loops around the valley, catch-and-release trout fishing, kayaking, and canoeing. The campground also has an amphitheater for ranger programs. Pets are welcome on leashes six feet or shorter.
Directions
From I-80, take Highway 267 south toward Lake Tahoe. After approximately 3 miles, turn onto Martis Dam Road. Continue on Martis Dam Road for approximately 1.2 miles, then turn right and continue 0.2 miles to the campground entrance.
