Cove Lake Recreation Area offers a perfect blend of mountain and water recreation in the Ozark National Forest. The campground encompasses the shores of a scenic 160-acre lake nestled near Mount Magazine, the highest point in Arkansas at 2,753 feet elevation. With 36 family campsites, this year-round facility welcomes RVs and camp trailers, though no hookups are available. The lake provides excellent fishing opportunities for catfish, largemouth bass, bluegill, sunfish, crappie, and perch. The lake is stocked every other year, with additional catfish stocked annually. Boating is permitted with a no-wake restriction, and a boat ramp is available for launching. The swimming beach operates from April through Labor Day. Two hiking trails—Cove Lake Trail and Lookout Window Trail—offer opportunities to explore the surrounding mixed hardwood forest. During the peak season from Memorial Day to Labor Day, an on-site concessionaire provides boat rentals, cabin rentals, miniature golf, and food service. A group pavilion with electricity is available for reservation. The recreation area features a bathhouse with flush toilets, 24 family picnic units, and basic amenities. The campground is easily accessible via Arkansas Highway 309, approximately 9 miles from the town of Paris.
