About

Granite Point campground is located in Curt Gowdy State Park, situated in the foothills of the Laramie Mountains along Happy Jack Road between Cheyenne and Laramie, Wyoming. The park encompasses three reservoirs—Granite Springs, Crystal, and North Crow—that provide opportunities for fishing, boating, and water recreation. Named after sportscaster Curt Gowdy, the park was established in 1971 through a lease agreement with the City of Cheyenne and the Boy Scouts. The park offers diverse terrain across seven sections with varied landscapes, flora, and fauna. Granite Point is one of 12 camping areas distributed throughout the park, providing access to over 35 miles of trails popular for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. The park's location near the crossroads of I-80 and I-25 makes it easily accessible for visitors. Campers can enjoy year-round access to the park, with most amenities available during the peak season. Winter visitors will find ice fishing opportunities on the reservoirs, while spring and summer bring hiking, boating, and wildlife viewing. The park is known for its varied bird populations and abundant wildlife throughout the seasons.
