About

Turkey Creek Campground is nestled within Shawnee State Park, a 1,095-acre recreation area surrounded by the 63,000-acre Shawnee State Forest in Scioto County, Ohio. Often called the "Little Smokies of Ohio," this area features rugged Appalachian terrain with rolling hills and dense hardwood forests. The campground offers 86 electric sites and 21 non-electric primitive sites suitable for tents and trailers, plus two camper cabins with basic furnishings including mini-fridge, microwave, and sleeping for six. The campground provides modern amenities including showerhouses, a dump station, and a camp store offering boat rentals from May through October. Turkey Creek Lake allows gas motors at idle speed, while nearby Roosevelt Lake is limited to hand-powered and electric boats. The park features extensive hiking trails through the surrounding state forest, including connections to the Shawnee Backpack Trail system. Popular activities include fishing, hiking, and wildlife viewing in one of Ohio's most ecologically diverse regions. The park also offers seasonal amenities like mini-golf, a playground, an amphitheater, and outdoor movie nights. The nearby Shawnee Lodge provides dining options and additional accommodations.
