About

Greenbo Lake State Resort Park encompasses 3,300 acres in eastern Kentucky's Greenup County, centered around the peaceful 225-acre Greenbo Lake. The campground provides 103 sites for various camping styles: 39 full service sites with water, electric, and sewer hookups (including 16 pull-through sites and 4 equestrian sites), 35 standard electric sites, and 24 primitive non-electric sites. Campers benefit from three dump stations, two central service buildings with showers and restrooms, and a camp store selling supplies, firewood, and ice. The park is named for Jesse Hilton Stuart, Kentucky's Poet Laureate, and features the Jesse Stuart Lodge with dining and meeting facilities. Recreation opportunities include fishing for largemouth bass (the lake holds two state records), bluegill, crappie, catfish, and trout. A marina open April through October offers boat rentals including pontoon boats, canoes, and kayaks. The campground area features an 18-hole miniature golf course, and campers have access to a community pool with waterslides for a fee. The park's 33 miles of hiking trails range from easy to difficult, winding through the beautiful Greenbo forest. The campground is located off KY 1711, approximately 18 miles north of I-64. Nearby attractions include two covered bridges, the Old Fort Earthworks, and the Jesse Stuart State Nature Preserve. The park enforces a maximum of 8 occupants per site, with no more than two units (one camper and one tent, or two tents). Golf carts require a permit except for disabled guests with proper tags.
