About

Adams Lake State Park Shelter is a reservable day-use picnic facility located approximately half a mile from the park entrance within Adams Lake State Park. The shelter is situated in one of Ohio's smaller state parks, which encompasses 49 acres of land surrounding a 47-acre lake in the state's Bluegrass region near the Ohio River. The park offers a peaceful setting for fishing and paddling, with largemouth bass, bluegill, channel catfish, carp, and bullhead available in the lake. Only non-powered craft and electric motors are permitted, making it ideal for kayaks, canoes, and small boats. A paved blacktop path encircles the lake, providing easy walking access to views of the water, wildlife, and distinctive lily pads. Adjacent to the park lies Adams Lake Prairie State Nature Preserve, one of the last remaining pockets of prairie habitat in Ohio. Visitors must stay on established trails due to the botanical sensitivity of the area. The preserve is home to rare plant species and Allegheny mound ants.
