About

Carter Caves State Resort Park is located in the forested hills of northeastern Kentucky, where nature has carved more than 20 twisting caverns over millions of years. The park's crown jewels include Cascade Cave, featuring a spectacular 30-foot underground waterfall, and X Cave, where luminous stone fans, pipes, and spirals have formed over countless millennia. Year-round cave tours provide access to these geological wonders. The campground offers 129 total sites including 90 standard electric sites, 31 primitive tent sites, and 8 equestrian sites with electric, water, and sewer hookups plus hitching posts. The campground features bathhouses with flush toilets and showers, a dump station, playground, and swimming pool. Sites include picnic tables and fire rings. The park enforces a maximum of 8 occupants per site, with up to 2 units allowed. Above ground, the park provides 26 miles of single and multi-use trails for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. Additional amenities include a 9-hole regulation golf course, 18-hole miniature golf, fishing pond, canoe rentals, and a full-service lodge with restaurant.
