About

Sevenmile Creek Individual Backpacking Sites offers five primitive backpacking sites within the Beaver Basin Wilderness of Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. Located on the west bank of Sevenmile Creek, the campground is accessible only by hiking or paddling and provides a remote wilderness experience along Michigan's Lake Superior shoreline. The North Country Trail winds through the campground and past the communal fire ring. Three of the five sites are positioned along Sevenmile Creek, while trees provide natural separation and privacy between sites. Lake Superior access is available on the east side of the creek through the Sevenmile Creek Group Campground, making this location particularly appealing for kayakers and paddlers. Water sources include Sevenmile Creek and Lake Superior, though the water is non-potable and must be treated. This is a true backcountry experience with minimal amenities. The campground includes food storage lockers and one designated fire ring, but has no toilet facilities. Winter camping is permitted at this site, though deep snow conditions require use of GPS coordinates to locate the sites. Campers must obtain a backcountry camping permit valid for specific dates, locations, and party size through Recreation.gov year-round.
