About
Secesh Campground is a small, primitive campground nestled in the forest at 4,250 feet elevation along the scenic banks of the Secesh River in Payette National Forest. The campground offers 4-5 campsites, each equipped with a picnic table and fire ring. All sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations accepted. Hitching rails are available for visitors traveling with stock animals. The campground provides vault toilets but no potable water, so campers must bring their own water or treat water from the river. There are no hookups or trash receptacles; visitors must pack out all trash. The nightly fee is $10 per site, with a 50% discount available for Interagency Senior and Access pass holders. Payment is typically by cash or check, though some sites may offer QR code payment through the Recreation.gov mobile app. The campground is located 31 miles northeast of McCall via Lick Creek Road (Forest Road 48). Designated parking for the Secesh River Trail #080 is located along the campground access road, providing access to backcountry hiking opportunities. The campground operates seasonally and closes for winter due to snow.
