About

Black Lee Dispersed is a small primitive camping area nestled in the Lick Creek corridor of the Payette National Forest, roughly 15 miles east of McCall along Forest Road #48. The site offers space for approximately three campsites in close proximity, making it suitable for small groups seeking solitude in a forested mountain setting. A vault toilet is provided, but there are no other developed amenities. Campers should come fully prepared for a backcountry-style experience. There is no potable water available on site, and all trash must be packed out. The access road is gravel and can be narrow and bumpy in sections. The Lick Creek area is sometimes called the Alps of Idaho due to its dramatic terrain and proximity to alpine lakes accessible via nearby trailheads. As dispersed camping on National Forest land, camping at Black Lee is free. The standard 14-day stay limit within any 30-day period applies, and after 14 days campers must relocate at least 5 miles from their original site. Road access is typically snow-free from late spring through fall, though exact dates vary by snowpack.

Directions

From McCall, take Park Street to Davis Street, then follow Lick Creek Road (Forest Road #48) east for approximately 15 miles. The road transitions to gravel and can be narrow and bumpy in sections.
