About
Camp Creek Campground is a remote, 4-site campground located on the South Fork Road in the Payette National Forest, offering a rustic base camp for outdoor enthusiasts exploring the South Fork of the Salmon River area. Each campsite is equipped with a picnic table and fire ring, and the campground features vault toilets and a hitching rack. No potable water or hookups are available, so visitors must bring their own water and practice pack-in, pack-out principles. The campground serves as the trailhead for the Phoebe Meadow Trail #291, providing direct access to Phoebe Meadows and an extensive network of trails throughout these rugged mountains. Fishing opportunities are available in the nearby South Fork of the Salmon River. The campground is located near the Reed Ranch airstrip, approximately twelve miles south of the confluence of the East Fork. All sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis only at $10 per night. The campground operates seasonally and is closed during winter months due to snow and road conditions. Access requires a drive of 30 miles northeast from McCall on Forest Road 48, followed by 9.5 miles south on FR 674, or from Warm Lake Road north of Cascade. Check-in is at 2:00 p.m. and check-out is at 11:00 a.m., with a 14-day stay limit within any 30-day consecutive period.
