About

Chinook Campground sits in a forested setting along the Secesh River within Idaho's Payette National Forest at an elevation of 5,650 feet. The campground features nine campsites, each equipped with a picnic table and fire ring. Several sites accommodate stock use for visitors bringing horses or pack animals. Vault toilets are available, and potable water is typically accessible via hand pump from June through September. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis only. Visitors must physically arrive to claim and pay for a site. Payment may be made using the Recreation.gov mobile app's Scan and Pay feature, though cellular service is limited. There are no hookups, no trash service, and campers must pack out all refuse. Local recreation includes fly fishing on the Secesh River, mountain biking, and hiking. The Secesh River Trail #080 and Loon Lake Trail #081 depart directly from the campground and form part of the popular Loon Lake Loop. The historic town of Warren and Burgdorf Hot Springs are within easy driving distance.
