About
Schaefer Creek Campground is a primitive USFS campground located along the Chiwawa River in the Wenatchee River Ranger District of Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. Situated 21 miles from Lake Wenatchee at approximately 2,500 feet elevation, the campground provides a quiet, lightly-used base for exploring the Chiwawa River corridor. The campground has 9 single sites available on a first-come, first-served basis only. Sites vary in size from 30'x12' to 50'x20', with a maximum trailer length of 30 feet. Each site allows up to 2 vehicles, with either 2 tents or 1 RV and 1 tent. Vault toilets are provided, but no potable water is available. Payment can be made on-site via the Recreation.gov mobile app Scan and Pay feature. River access is available directly from the campground, making it suitable for fishing, picnicking, and day hiking. The area sees light usage, offering a more secluded camping experience compared to busier Lake Wenatchee area campgrounds.
