About
Alpine Meadows Campground is a small, primitive campground located along the scenic Chiwawa River in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. Situated 21 miles from Fish Lake, this valley floor campground offers 8 first-come, first-served campsites in a peaceful forested setting. The campground provides basic amenities including vault toilets, but campers must bring their own water as none is available on-site. Access to the campground requires navigating Chiwawa River Road, with the final 11 miles being rough gravel and dirt that may not be suitable for low clearance vehicles. Sites accommodate RVs up to 20 feet, though hookups are not available. Each site typically includes a picnic table and fire pit, with fees of $20 per night plus $7-10 for additional vehicles. Payment can be made via cash, check, or the Recreation.gov Scan and Pay mobile app feature where available. The campground operates seasonally, typically from late spring through fall, and serves as a base for exploring the surrounding wilderness, including access to trails, fishing, and the Alpine Lakes Wilderness area. Due to its remote location, cellular service is limited or nonexistent.
