About

Scenic Lake of the Isles Group Camp provides a wilderness camping experience for scout troops, church groups, families, and organized gatherings within one of Minnesota's most treasured state parks. Established in 1921, Scenic State Park protects nearly 4,000 acres of virgin red and white pine forests surrounding several pristine lakes including Sandwick Lake, Coon Lake, and Lake of the Isles. The group camp sits on the southern shore of Lake of the Isles, offering seclusion from the park's main campground areas while still providing access to the extensive trail system and multiple lakes. A fishing pier is located directly at the group camp, and a small carry-in boat launch nearby accommodates canoes and kayaks for exploring the lake. As a primitive group camp, the site includes picnic tables, fire rings with grills for cooking, hand pump water access, and vault toilets. Modern restroom and shower facilities are not available at the group camp. Reservations are required and can be made up to 120 days in advance through the Minnesota state park reservation system.
