Located seven miles from the park's primary facilities, this 30-site campground sits on a scenic peninsula jutting into Beatrice Lake in Itasca County. Most campsites provide views of the lake, with several offering direct water access for launching small watercraft or fishing from shore. The campground's primitive character appeals to campers seeking a quieter, more isolated experience. An adjacent boat landing allows convenient access to Beatrice Lake for fishing and paddling. The location also serves as an excellent base for mountain bikers and hikers, with miles of trails winding through McCarthy Beach State Park and the adjoining George Washington State Forest. Facilities are basic but functional, with hand pump water and vault toilets serving campers' needs. The rustic setting under tall pines and proximity to the water creates an authentic northwoods camping experience. All sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis and typically fill less quickly than the main campground, making it a good option during busy summer weekends.
