Clubhouse Lake Campground occupies a beautiful stand of 200-year-old red and white pines along the western shore of Clubhouse Lake in Minnesota's Chippewa National Forest. The lake reaches depths of 90 feet with excellent water clarity, making it a prime destination for anglers targeting northern pike, largemouth bass, and panfish. An accessible fishing pier extends from the day use area, and the Rice River Canoe Route begins from waters flowing into Clubhouse Lake. The campground offers 47 sites total: 28 available by reservation and 19 first-come, first-served. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring, with two vault toilets and two hand-pump wells providing water throughout the campground. A sandy swimming beach and day use area with horseshoe pits round out the amenities. Sites accommodate RVs and trailers up to 45 feet via back-in driveways. The campground lies along Minnesota Highway 38, the nation's first National Scenic Byway known as the Edge of the Wilderness. The nearby Marcell Discovery Center offers naturalist programs and interpretive displays. Bear activity requires proper food storage in hard-sided vehicles or campers.

Directions

From Grand Rapids, travel north on Minnesota State Highway 38 to Marcell. Turn right on County Road 45 just north of Marcell and continue 5 miles east. Then travel 3 miles north on Forest Road 2181 to the campground.
