About
Sather Lake Campground sits in the rugged Badlands of western North Dakota within the Little Missouri National Grassland, offering a remote and peaceful camping experience along the shores of Sather Lake. The campground features 18 campsites distributed across three camping loops, with each site equipped with a picnic table and fire ring. A separate day-use loop provides access to a floating fishing pier and boat dock.
Anglers can fish for bass, crappie, and trout from the accessible floating pier, with additional species including bluegill, brown trout, and smallmouth bass present in the lake. The lake is open year-round for fishing, including ice fishing in designated areas during winter months. Motorized and non-motorized boating are both permitted. Wildlife viewing opportunities abound, with pronghorn antelope, mule deer, and whitetail deer frequently passing through campsites.
The campground provides five vault toilets and has accessible facilities including campsites, a unisex vault toilet, and the fishing pier. Parking pads accommodate RVs up to 60 feet in length, though no hookups are available. The campground operates under pack-it-in, pack-it-out rules, and campers must bring their own water.
