About
Sather Lake Campground sits along the shores of Sather Lake in the Badlands of North Dakota, part of the Little Missouri National Grassland managed by Dakota Prairie Grasslands. The 18-site campground is spread across three loops, each offering views of the lake and surrounding grasslands. Sites feature fire rings with grills, picnic tables, and parking pads averaging 16 by 50 feet, with some accommodating vehicles up to 60 feet long.
Fishing is the main draw here, with the lake supporting populations of largemouth and smallmouth bass, black crappie, rainbow and brown trout, and bluegill. A boat dock and accessible floating fishing pier make lake access easy. Wildlife is abundant, with pronghorn, mule deer, and white-tailed deer frequently passing through campsites.
Amenities include five vault toilets (including an accessible unisex option) and a hand pump providing potable water from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Outside that window, campers must bring their own water. This is a pack-in, pack-out campground with no trash service. Firewood must be sourced locally and cannot be transported in.
