About

Whitetail Campground offers a quiet, primitive camping experience in the wooded Whitetail Creek drainage within the Little Missouri National Grassland. The 10 walk-in sites are free and operate on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations accepted. Each site has a fire grate, and there is one vault toilet serving the campground. A large parking area accommodates trailers and RVs of all sizes. This is a pack-it-in, pack-it-out facility with no potable water, electricity, or trash service. Campers must bring all necessary supplies including drinking water. The 14-day stay limit applies. The access road crosses Whitetail Creek via a low water crossing that may become impassable during periods of high runoff, so check conditions before traveling in spring or after heavy rain. The campground is open year-round, though services are limited outside the Memorial Day to Labor Day season. Pets are allowed but must remain leashed. Campfires are permitted in the fire grates when conditions allow, though fire bans are common during dry periods.
