Bennett Campground

Bennett Campground offers a peaceful camping experience in the Little Missouri National Grassland of western North Dakota. Located about 27 miles south of Watford City, this 13-site campground sits in the rugged badlands landscape and serves as a gateway to the Maah Daah Hey Trail, one of the premier non-motorized trails in the northern Great Plains. All sites are first-come, first-served with no advance reservations. Each campsite includes a picnic table and fire ring with cooking grill. The campground has an accessible vault toilet and a hand-pump well fed by a natural spring for drinking water, though the water is turned off during winter months. Three sites are pull-through, and parking pads can accommodate vehicles up to 60 feet in length. The campground operates year-round, though services are limited outside the Memorial Day to Labor Day peak season. Campers must pack out all trash. A 14-day stay limit applies. Pets are welcome but must remain leashed at all times. The area may be subject to firewood restrictions and fire bans during dry conditions.

Directions

From Watford City: 19 miles south on US-85, west on 6th St NW for 4 miles, then south 1 mile to Bennett Creek Campground. From Grassy Butte: 7.5 miles north on Highway 85, then west 4 miles. Turn south on road #824 across the green cattle guard, approximately 1 mile south and west to the camp.
