About

Sarah Totten Campground is located within the Klamath Wild and Scenic River corridor in northern California's Klamath National Forest. The campground sits in a shaded area next to the Klamath River at an elevation of 1,400 feet, approximately 33 miles east of Happy Camp and one mile east of the historic Hamburg townsite. The campground features nine family campsites and two group sites that can accommodate up to 30 people each. Family sites are first-come, first-served, while the two group sites are reservable during peak season from mid-May to mid-October. The campground's upper loop, which includes four family sites and one group site, is open year-round. A sandy boat launch provides river access for drift boats and whitewater craft. The Klamath River offers class II-III whitewater rafting and kayaking, as well as excellent fishing opportunities. Nearby, visitors can explore the remains of Hamburg, once a popular destination for sportsmen including author Zane Grey. The area features hiking trails and access to the 1.7-million-acre Klamath National Forest, which spans elevations from 450 to 8,900 feet and supports diverse wildlife.
