Sarah Totten Campground is nestled in a shaded forest setting on the banks of the Klamath River within the designated Wild and Scenic River corridor. Located in the Klamath National Forest at 1,400 feet elevation, the campground provides excellent access to the Class II-III Klamath River for whitewater rafting, kayaking, tubing, and fishing. A sandy boat launch area accommodates drift boats and whitewater craft. The campground offers nine standard family sites on a first-come, first-served basis and two group sites (up to 30 people each) available by reservation through Recreation.gov. The upper loop containing four family sites and one group site operates year-round, while the full campground is open mid-May through mid-October. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring with grill. Vault toilets, potable water spigots, and trash collection are provided. The area is bear country, requiring proper food storage in approved containers. Dogs are allowed on leash. The historic town of Hamburg is just one mile away, once frequented by author Zane Grey and other sportsmen. Hiking trails are accessible in the vicinity.
Directions
From I-5, take exit 786 to Highway 96 (Klamath River Highway). Travel west on Highway 96 for approximately 32 miles. The campground entrance is on the right, about one mile before the town of Hamburg.
