Kings Gap Environmental Education Center is a 2,531-acre Pennsylvania state park located on South Mountain in Cumberland County. The park is dedicated to environmental education and interpretive programming, offering organized groups the opportunity to camp overnight while learning about nature. The single group tenting site accommodates up to 30 people in a level hilltop clearing surrounded by forest, equipped with a privy, outdoor showerroom/changing room, picnic tables, and a metal fire pit with grill rack. Water is available for fire suppression only; campers must bring drinking water. The park's centerpiece is the Cameron-Masland Mansion, an Italian villa-style historic building that provides overnight lodging with private bathrooms and continental breakfast. Standard rooms and suites are available from late April through mid-November. The mansion also hosts meetings, retreats, and special events. More than 25 miles of hiking trails traverse the mountainous terrain, and the park features a permanent orienteering course, picnicking areas, and hunting opportunities in season. The panoramic views of the Cumberland Valley from the mansion grounds are impressive year-round.

Directions

Located 2.5 miles from Pennsylvania Route 233 on South Mountain in Dickinson Township, Cumberland County. From Carlisle, take PA-34 south to Pine Road, turn right and follow signs to Kings Gap Road.
