Outdoor Ranger Programs May Be Modified From June 22-25 Due To Excessive Heat

June 25 update. All ranger programs will be shortened and modified. We will continue to update the ranger program schedule daily based on the weather forecast. 100 Nights of Taps will still perform at the Pennsylvania Memorial at 7 pm.

Gettysburg Parks Closed on 2/13/24 due to Winter Storm

Gettysburg NMP and Eisenhower NHS are closed due to a major winter storm. The Gettysburg NMP Museum & Visitor Center is also closed. Please slow down and use caution if driving on public roads through the battlefield.

West Confederate Avenue Closes at 9 pm for July 4 Fireworks

West Confederate Avenue will close at 9 pm for the July 4 fireworks demonstration for visitor safety and resource protection. The avenue will reopen at the conclusion of the show.

Museum and Visitor Center Winter Hours take effect December 1, 2022. From December 1, 2022, to February 28, 2023, building hours are 9 am to 4 pm.

Pennsylvania Monument Closed for Annual Cleaning on Monday July 28

The Pennsylvania Monument will be closed for its annual cleaning of the upper and lower decks, steps, and gutters on Monday July 28. It is expected to reopen around 4 pm.

July 4 Fireworks Road Closures

For visitor safety & resource protection, multiple roads will close at 7 pm on July 4. These include all park roads south of Wheatfield Road & Benner Hill Road. West Confederate Avenue will also close at 9 pm for safety purposes. Click MORE for a map.

Birney Avenue (around the Peach Orchard) Closure on August 5

Birney Avenue (around the Peach Orchard) will be closed on August 5 to allow our monuments crew to safely clean a series of monuments located on this stretch of battlefield road. The road should reopen by 3:00 pm. Thank you for your understanding.

Rose Farm Rehabilitation Project Closure Notice

As of May 2023, the Rose Farm & Rose Lane are closed to all visitation. The house will undergo a full rehabilitation. This work prohibits the use of the area around the house and lane during construction. Worker safety and resource protection are key.

David Wills House Closure

The David Wills House closed in October 2024 due to a burst water line and will remain closed for the remainder of 2025. No known reopening date is available. Please visit our David Wills House web page for more information and a 3D tour of the house.

Battlefield Road and Observation Tower Closures

About

The Slyder Farmhouse offers an exceptional opportunity to stay overnight on one of America's most significant battlefields. This historic farmhouse, beautifully restored and updated in 2024, is set back from park roadways and surrounded by the pastoral landscape of Gettysburg National Military Park. The property witnessed the Battle of Gettysburg in July 1863 and sits near iconic landmarks including Little Round Top and Devil's Den. The house accommodates up to 4-6 guests and features a spacious loft bedroom with two queen beds, one full bathroom, and a fully-equipped kitchen with a Keurig coffee maker, stove, microwave, dishwasher, and refrigerator. Bed linens and a limited supply of towels are provided. The house has central heating and air conditioning, free WiFi (which can be spotty), and a phone for emergency and local calls only. There is no television or laundry facilities. Guests must complete check-in at 3-4 PM and checkout by 10-11 AM. The park closes from sunset to sunrise, and guests cannot explore outside the property boundaries during these hours. Parking is limited to designated areas; RVs, trailers, and campers are prohibited. A $250 refundable security deposit is required. Pets are not permitted except service animals.

Directions

From the north or south, follow US 15 to the Steinwehr Ave exit and head toward Gettysburg. From east or west, drive into Gettysburg on US Rt. 30, turn south on Baltimore Street (Rt. 97), then turn south on Steinwehr Ave or Business Rt 15 South. The farmhouse is located approximately 3 miles south of Gettysburg. Nearest airport is Harrisburg International Airport, approximately 35 miles north.
