About
Sam Parr State Fish and Wildlife Area encompasses 1,180 acres in Jasper County, Illinois, centered around the 183-acre Newton Lake. The campground sits on the park's west side near the lake, providing convenient access to fishing, boating, and wildlife viewing. The campground features approximately 30 Class B/E campsites with 50-amp electrical hookups, paved back-in driveways, tent pads, picnic tables, and fire rings with cooking grates. Vault toilets serve the campground, and drinking water is available. A dump station accommodates RV campers. Two sites (#2 and #17) offer ADA-accessible amenities including wheelchair-accessible picnic tables and grills. All campers must obtain a permit from park staff before setting up camp. The park also supports hunting, fishing (bass, bluegill, catfish), and boating on Newton Lake.
