About
Red Hills State Park lies midway between Olney and Lawrenceville on U.S. Route 50 in southeastern Illinois's Lawrence County. The 967-acre park features high wooded hills, deep ravines, captivating meadows, and year-round springs. The centerpiece is a 40-acre lake stocked for fishing. Hiking, biking, and equestrian trails wind through the property, and a separate 627-acre satellite nature preserve at Chauncey Marsh offers additional exploration. The main campground provides over 100 Class A campsites with vehicular access, electric hookups, and access to potable water. Some sites are pull-through with 50-amp service, accommodating larger RVs. A modern ADA-accessible building houses flush toilets and showers. An on-site dump station serves RVs. Beyond the main campground, primitive tent camping, an equestrian campground, a rent-a-camp cabin, and a youth group tent camping area round out the overnight options. Reservations are available through the ExploreMoreIL system. Primitive and specialty camping require permits obtained directly from park staff.
