About

Lincoln Trail State Park in Clark County, Illinois, preserves the historic trail that Abraham Lincoln's family followed when they migrated from Indiana to Illinois in 1831. The 1,023-acre park showcases American Beech woods filled with wildflowers, including the unusual squaw-root and beech drops. Prior to European settlement, the land was home to Miami, Kickapoo, and Mascouten tribes. The park offers two Class A campgrounds, Plainview and Lakeside, featuring electricity, water, modern shower facilities, tables, and fire blocks at each site. Lakeside also includes a Class C primitive camping area for tent campers seeking a more rustic experience. A sanitary dump station serves RV campers. During camping season, the park restaurant delivers dinners directly to campsites and offers firewood, bait, and boat rentals. Lincoln Trail Lake provides excellent fishing and boating opportunities. Multiple hiking trails wind through the beech forest, and the park permits hunting in designated areas during season. Playground equipment is available for families.
