About

Campground 2 at Sam A. Baker State Park is the park's year-round camping option, situated in the rugged Ozark hills of southeastern Missouri. The campground offers basic sites, 30-amp and 50-amp electric sites, and larger family sites for groups needing extra space. Each site includes a parking pad, picnic table, grill, and lantern post, with electric sites providing power hookups. During the on-season from April 1 through October 31, campers have access to modern restrooms, a shower house with laundry facilities, and a dump station. Off-season camping (November through March) remains available, though modern facilities close and campers must use vault toilets and retrieve potable water from the frost-free spigot at the visitor center. The park surrounds campers with outstanding natural features including Big Creek, the St. Francis River, and Mudlick Mountain. Activities include hiking over 20 miles of trails, fishing for bass, bluegill, and catfish, floating the scenic river, and exploring the nature center. A park store provides camping supplies, and the dining hall offers meals during peak season.
