About
Sam A. Baker Equestrian Campground sits within one of Missouri's most scenic state parks, nestled in the ancient St. Francois Mountains. The campground serves both equestrian and non-equestrian campers, offering basic and electric sites (up to 50-amp service). Each site includes a hitching post for horses, a picnic table, grill, and fire ring. Vault toilets are available year-round, with running water operational from April through October. The park's equestrian trail system provides over 20 miles of riding through rugged Ozark terrain along Big Creek and the St. Francis River. Riders traverse steep, rocky paths through hardwood forests and past scenic overlooks. The trails connect to the campground, allowing easy access to riding without trailering. The broader park offers additional amenities including the Mudlick Mountain Store, dining at Mudlick Mountain Grill, a nature center, swimming area, and rustic cabin rentals. Fishing and canoeing opportunities abound on the St. Francis River and Big Creek.
Directions
