About
Salt Fork Primitive Campground sits within Salt Fork State Park, Ohio's largest state park encompassing over 17,000 acres of forested hills, open meadows, and misty valleys in Guernsey County near Cambridge. The primitive campground is designed for tent campers seeking a quieter, more secluded experience away from the main developed campground loops. The tent-only sites are arranged in clusters, with each site featuring a fire ring and picnic table. Pit latrines serve the primitive camping area. There is no potable water or electric hookups at the primitive sites, so campers must bring their own water supply. However, heated shower houses and flush toilets are available at the main campground area, though it is a drive from the primitive sites. The surrounding park offers extensive recreation including a 2,952-acre lake for boating and fishing, swimming beach, miles of hiking and bridle trails, and a lodge with cabins. Reservations for primitive sites are available April through October via Reserve Ohio; the rest of the year operates first-come, first-served.
