About
Barkcamp State Park Campground occupies a scenic setting in Ohio's Appalachian Plateau region, where rolling sandstone hills surround the 117-acre Belmont Lake. The 1,005-acre park offers 150 electrified campsites distributed across sunny and shaded loops, with options ranging from basic electric sites to 15 full-service sites with water and sewer hookups. Each site features a fire ring, picnic table, and 10-foot-wide cement pad, with some sites accommodating rigs up to 80 feet in length. All sites are back-in only. The campground includes specialized camping areas to suit different needs: 14 tent-only sites positioned near the lakeshore, a 25-site horseman's camp for equestrian campers, and a group camping loop accommodating 15 sites for organized groups. Two ADA-accessible sites are available. Designated pet camping areas allow dogs on leash. A modern shower house provides hot showers, and a dump station serves RV campers. During winter months, the shower house and dump station close, though year-round camping with electric service remains available. Beyond camping, visitors can enjoy boating and fishing on Belmont Lake, swimming at the beach, and exploring hiking and bridle trails through the forested hills. The park preserves the heritage of the local coal mining and farming communities while offering a peaceful retreat for outdoor recreation.
