About
Nestled in the rugged hills of Muskingum County, Blue Rock State Park encompasses 322 acres of land dominated by oak and hickory forests, plus a 15-acre lake stocked with bass, trout, catfish, and bluegill. The campground offers a quiet, family-oriented experience for those seeking a more rustic outdoor adventure without electrical hookups. Camping is divided between two areas: the lower campground (sites 51-102) sits near the 250-foot swimming beach and seasonal camp store, while the upper campground provides tent-only sites and accommodates equestrian campers with access to 26 miles of bridle trails in the adjacent state forest. Each campsite comes equipped with a fire ring and picnic table. Facilities include flush toilets at the lower camp, vault toilets throughout, seasonal hot showers at the beach bathhouse, and a dump station. Campers must bring their own drinking water as no potable water is available on-site. Recreational opportunities include five marked hiking trails totaling approximately 3 miles, fishing, swimming, and boating with electric motors, rowboats, or canoes. The park also features basketball and volleyball courts, horseshoe pits, an archery range, and a playground. Pets are welcome on leash but not permitted on the swimming beach.
