About

Blue Rock State Park encompasses 322 acres of scenic woodlands and is surrounded by over 4,500 acres of state forest in southeast Ohio. The park takes its name from the blue-colored sedimentary shale found in the region, formed millions of years ago when ancient seas covered the area. The campground is divided into upper and lower sections near the 15-acre Cutler Lake, offering a quiet, family-oriented camping experience without the distractions of modern hookups. The park features 97 non-electric campsites, 3 camper cabins, and 3 rent-a-tents. A stream runs through the campground area, and the lower campground is conveniently located near the beach and camp store. The upper campground includes tent-only sites and equestrian camping facilities. Recreational opportunities include fishing for bass, catfish, and bluegill, swimming at the public beach during daylight hours, and several miles of hiking trails that wind through the forested hills. Additional amenities include three reservable shelterhouses (two with electricity), picnic areas with tables and grills, a playground, horseshoe pits, basketball and volleyball courts, and a historic covered bridge. A dump station is available for RVs. The park's remote location offers limited cell service, making it an ideal retreat for those seeking solitude in nature.

Directions

From the junction of State Route 60 and County Road 45 (Cutler Lake Road) south of Duncan Falls, travel east 6 miles on County Road 45 to reach the campground.
