Salmon La Sac Campground is a popular destination in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, situated at 2,400 feet elevation where the Cle Elum and Cooper Rivers meet. The campground has 69 sites accommodating both tents and RVs, with approximately 40 sites reservable through Recreation.gov and the remainder available first-come-first-served. Sites feature paved driveways, picnic tables, and campfire rings with grills. Some pull-through sites can accommodate vehicles up to 44 feet. The area is a prime location for outdoor recreation. The Waptus River Trail begins within walking distance of the campground, offering a 3-mile hike to Hour Creek or a longer 9-mile trek to Waptus Lake with views of Summit Chief Mountain. The Pacific Crest Trail is also accessible nearby. Anglers will find rainbow trout, cutthroat trout, and kokanee salmon in the rivers. Swimming, horseback riding, and mountain biking are popular summer activities. The campground operates from late May through mid-September, with exact dates depending on snow conditions. Facilities include vault toilets, potable water from hand pumps, and trash collection. There are no hookups, showers, or dump stations. Bears are active in the area, so proper food storage is required. Pets are permitted but must be kept leashed at all times.

Directions

From Seattle, take I-90 east for approximately 80 miles. Take exit 80 toward Salmon La Sac and turn left on Bullfrog Road. Continue to the second traffic circle and take the second exit onto WA-903 north. Continue onto Salmon La Sac Road for approximately 19 miles.
