About

Owhi Campground sits on Cooper Lake in the Cle Elum Ranger District of the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. At 2,800 feet elevation, this walk-in campground offers 22 tent-only sites on a first-come, first-served basis. The walk-in nature of the campground means a quieter, more secluded experience compared to nearby drive-in campgrounds. The campground provides vault toilets but no potable water, so campers must bring their own water supply. Sites are claimed by physically arriving at the campground and paying via the Recreation.gov mobile app's Scan and Pay feature. Downloading the app before arrival is recommended due to limited cellular service in the area. Cooper Lake offers opportunities for non-motorized boating and fishing, while nearby trails provide day hiking options. The season typically runs from early June through late October, depending on weather conditions.

Directions

From Cle Elum, take State Highway 903 north 16 miles then turn left on Forest Road 46 (Cooper River Road). Travel about 5.3 miles and turn right on Road 4616. Continue about half a mile to the campground on the left via spur road 113.
