About
Owhi Campground offers a peaceful tent camping experience along Cooper Lake in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. This walk-in campground features 22 tent-only sites located about 200 feet from the parking area, situated among towering trees on the lakeshore. The campground sits at an elevation of 2,800 feet and is accessible via Forest Road 46 and 4616 from Cle Elum.
Cooper Lake is restricted to non-motorized watercraft, creating a serene environment perfect for kayaking, canoeing, and fishing for trout. The area offers access to hiking trails and provides opportunities to explore the natural beauty of the surrounding national forest. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations, and visitors can pay using the Scan & Pay feature via the Recreation.gov mobile app.
Campers should note that no potable water is available on-site, so bringing adequate water supplies is essential. Vault toilets are provided. The remote location and walk-in nature of the sites make this an ideal destination for those seeking solitude and a more primitive camping experience.
Directions
From Cle Elum, take State Highway 903 north 16 miles then turn left on Forest Road 46 / Cooper River Road. Travel about 5.3 miles and turn right on Road 4616. Continue about one half mile to the campground which is to the left on spur road 113.
