The campground is closed for the season and opens in late May. Some sites become first-come-first-served around May 22, with reservable sites available through Recreation.gov. The season runs through mid-September.

About

Kachess Campground sits on the forested northwest shore of Kachess Lake, considered one of the most scenic sites in the Cle Elum Ranger District. The 92-acre facility is nestled in dense old-growth conifer forest with high mountain peaks framing the reservoir. Little Kachess Lake lies just to the north. The campground offers 150 sites accommodating both tent and RV camping. Sites include picnic tables and campfire rings with grills. Drinking water is available from hand pumps and flush toilets are provided. Two boat launches serve the lake: a paved south launch and a maintained gravel north launch. A designated swimming area and picnic areas round out the day-use amenities. Kachess Lake supports rainbow trout, cutthroat trout, and kokanee salmon fishing from boat or shore. The Kachess Lake Trail starts at the campground and provides an easy loop hike along the shoreline. The Pacific Crest Trail is accessible nearby for more ambitious day hikes or backpacking trips.
