About

Red Mountain Campground is a modest 10-site campground nestled along the Cle Elum River within the Cle Elum Ranger District of the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. Situated at 2,300 feet elevation approximately 16 miles north of Cle Elum on Salmon La Sac Road, the campground provides a quiet riverside setting with access to wading pools in the Cle Elum River during warmer months. The campground operates strictly on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations available. Visitors must physically arrive to claim and pay for a site, either via cash, check, or through the Recreation.gov mobile app's Scan & Pay feature. Each site includes a picnic table and vault toilets are available, but there is no potable water, so campers must bring an adequate supply. The area provides access to hiking trails and fishing opportunities in the Cle Elum River drainage. The campground's moderate use level and riverside location make it a good option for those seeking a quieter camping experience in the central Cascades.
