Weed Free Hay Order 04-2021-03

Prohibited by this order: Possessing, storing, or transporting non-pelletized hay, straw, or mulch in the Intermountain Region, unless it is certified as weed free by the state where the product originated.

Flat Fire GNA Salvage Road and Trail Closure

About

Sage Hen Creek Campground is located on the east side of Sage Hen Reservoir in the Boise National Forest at an elevation of 4,800 feet. The campground features shaded sites among towering Ponderosa pine, Engelmann spruce, Douglas fir, and grand fir, with some sites offering partial lake views. Summer temperatures range from 80-90 degrees during the day to cool nights. The reservoir offers excellent boating and canoeing opportunities with a 15 mph speed limit, and rainbow trout fishing is popular. A boat ramp and dock are located within the campground. The 4-mile Sage Hen Reservoir Trail loops around the lake, providing fishing access, scenic viewpoints, and wildlife watching opportunities for hikers, mountain bikers, and horseback riders. The area is known for abundant recreation trails. The Sage Hen and KYAOTT ATV Trail Systems offer more than 35 miles of trails near the reservoir for off-road vehicles and motorcycles, though hikers, mountain bikers, and horseback riders also use these trails. Wildlife in the area includes deer, elk, black bear, goshawk, woodpeckers, and boreal owls. Berries and mushrooms can be found throughout the area.

Directions

From Horseshoe Bend, travel west on Highway 52 for 9 miles to the junction with Sweet/Ola Highway. Turn north and travel 16 miles to Ola. From Ola, continue northeast on Forest Service Road 618 for 10 miles, then 7 miles on FS Road 626, and finally 2 miles northeast on FS Road 614 to Sage Hen Reservoir. Sage Hen Creek Campground is on the east side of the reservoir.
