Lassen National Forest Camping Restrictions

Forest Order No. 06-24-01 limits the number of days and individuals camping on the Lassen National Forest.

About

Roxie Peconom Campground is a small, rustic walk-in campground located in the Eagle Lake Ranger District of Lassen National Forest. Named after Roxie, a native Maidu medicine woman who lived over 100 years in the area, the campground honors the cultural heritage of the Mountain Maidu Indians and serves as a site for traditional gatherings. The campground features 10 walk-in sites in a peaceful forested setting at 4,800 feet elevation. The campground provides basic amenities including hand-pumped drinking water and vault toilets. All campsites come equipped with fire pits and picnic tables. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservation system and no camping fees. Visitors must pack in their gear from the parking area to the walk-in sites. Located approximately 9 miles west of Susanville via Highway 36, then 2 miles south on Forest Road 29N03, Roxie Peconom offers a quiet retreat in the forest with opportunities for hiking, wildlife viewing, and stargazing. The campground enforces quiet hours from 10 PM to 8 AM and limits stays to 14 consecutive days.

Directions

From Susanville, drive west on Highway 36 for 9 miles. Turn left on Forest Road 29N03 and continue for 2 miles to the campground.
