About
West Eagle Campground sits at approximately 5,100 feet elevation on the southeastern shore of Eagle Lake in northeastern California's Lassen National Forest. This group-only campground offers two reservable sites designed for large gatherings: one accommodating up to 75 guests and the other up to 100 guests. The campground is shaded by mature pine trees with a grassy understory, and some sites offer lake views with space to moor boats. The 27,000-acre Eagle Lake provides excellent boating, swimming, water skiing, and trout fishing opportunities. A boat ramp is located nearby, and the beach at Aspen Campground is within easy reach. The campground connects to miles of trails in the Eagle Lake Recreation Area, including a 6-mile paved hiking, biking, and horseback riding trail that parallels the lake. Each group site is equipped with picnic tables and campfire rings with grills. The campground provides accessible flush toilets, potable drinking water, and electricity. Firewood is available for purchase on-site; outside firewood is prohibited to prevent pest spread. Check-in is at 2:00 p.m. and check-out is at noon. Quiet hours are enforced from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
Directions
From Susanville, California, take Highway 36 west for 2 miles to County Road A-1. Turn north and continue 14 miles to the Eagle Lake Recreation Area, following the signs to the campground.
