About
West Eagle Campground is part of the Eagle Lake Recreation Area in Lassen National Forest, positioned on the southeastern shores of the expansive 27,000-acre Eagle Lake at approximately 5,100 feet elevation. The campground is nestled in a mature pine forest with a grassy understory, offering a scenic mountain lake setting in northeastern California. The facility features two group sites designed for tent or RV camping, with one site accommodating up to 75 guests and the other up to 100 guests. Some sites offer sweeping views of the adjacent lake and space to moor a boat. The 27,000-acre lake provides excellent opportunities for boating, swimming, water skiing, sailing, and trout fishing. A boat ramp is located not far from the campground, and a beach can be accessed at the nearby Aspen Campground. The campground serves as an access point for miles of trails within the Eagle Lake Recreation Area. A 6-mile paved trail parallels the lake and winds through the surrounding forest, popular year-round for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding in summer, and snowmobiling during winter months. The recreation area offers a variety of wilderness areas and abundant outdoor recreation opportunities.
