About

Aspen Grove Campground is located in the Eagle Lake Recreation Area of the Lassen National Forest, positioned in a mature conifer forest of pines and firs with a strip of aspen trees between the campsites and Eagle Lake's shoreline at 5,100 feet elevation. This tent-only facility prohibits all camping vehicles and generators, providing a quieter camping experience. Wheelbarrows are provided to transport gear from the parking area to campsites. The campground features 28 sites total: 18 reservable sites (numbers 11-28) and 10 walk-in first-come first-served sites (numbers 1-10). Each site is equipped with a picnic table and campfire ring with grill. Facilities include flush toilets, potable water points, and firewood available for purchase. A 5.2-mile paved hiking and biking trail runs through the campground, connecting five campgrounds, three day use areas, and a marina along Eagle Lake's south shore. Eagle Lake is the second or third largest natural lake in California at 22,000 acres, located where the Sierras meet the Cascades and the Modoc Plateau. The lake is famous for fishing the Eagle Lake Rainbow Trout, a California Heritage Trout. Aspen Campground sits adjacent to the designated swim area at Gallatin Beach Day Use Area. The nearby Eagle Lake Marina provides gas, propane, fishing and camping supplies, plus shower and laundry facilities. Lassen Volcanic National Park is an easy day trip from the recreation area.
