About
Eagle Campground occupies a prime location in the Eagle Lake Recreation Area of Lassen National Forest, positioned where the Sierra Nevada meets the Cascade Range and the Modoc Plateau. The campground sits at 5,100 feet elevation in a mature conifer forest of pines and firs along the southern shoreline of Eagle Lake. Eagle Lake is renowned for its endemic Eagle Lake Rainbow Trout, a California Heritage Trout species found nowhere else. The 22,000-acre lake offers excellent fishing, swimming, kayaking, waterskiing, and boating with no 2-cycle engine restrictions. Within the recreation area, Eagle Campground is the closest RV-accessible campground to the marina and boat launch, approximately one mile away. The marina provides fuel, propane, fishing supplies, showers, and laundry facilities. The campground features 52 sites: 30 reservable standard sites, 20 first-come-first-served walk-in tent sites, 2 group sites accommodating larger parties, and 2 sites (026 and 028) with electric and water hookups. All sites have paved parking spurs except site 50, and each includes a picnic table and fire ring with grill. A 5.2-mile paved multi-use trail connects to other recreation facilities including day-use areas and the Osprey Overlook scenic viewpoint.
