About
Lone Rock Campground is one of three campgrounds in the Antelope Lake Recreation Area, nestled in the northern Sierra Nevada mountain range at 5,000 feet elevation. Located on the northwest shore of Antelope Lake, the campground sits on a peninsula point with 87 sites, many offering direct lakeside access. Tall pine and fir trees provide plentiful shade throughout the area. Antelope Lake is one of the more remote, quiet lakes in Plumas National Forest, making it a popular destination for anglers seeking well-stocked trout, bass, and catfish. The campground features a car-top boat launch, providing easy access for fishing, swimming, boating, and water skiing. Educational programs are offered at the campground's amphitheater during the summer season. Hiking and mountain biking opportunities abound in the surrounding forest. The Sunset Point trail begins near the campground, and an 11-mile paved loop circles the recreation area. The campground is located 30 miles northeast of Taylorsville, with scenic views along Janesville Grade on the drive in. Nearby communities such as Taylorsville, Greenville, Janesville, Milford, and Susanville offer supplies before heading up to the lake.
Directions
From Taylorsville, take County Road 112 (Antelope Lake Road) 23 miles to Antelope Lake. From Susanville, take the Janesville Grade 32 miles to the lake. The campground is located on the northwest shore of the lake.
