Open — Open year-round for day use only. Park hours vary seasonally: June through August 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., September through May 6:00 a.m. to dusk. No overnight camping is permitted.

Rooster Rock State Park is a scenic day-use park located on the Columbia River in the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area. Named for a distinctive basalt column mentioned in the Lewis and Clark journals, the park offers stunning views of the Cascade Mountains and the wide Columbia River. The park features three miles of river access with sandy beaches perfect for swimming and sunbathing, a boat launch and basin, fishing opportunities, windsurfing, and disc golf courses. Nature trails and exhibits are available for exploration. One section of the beach is designated clothing-optional and visually isolated from the main areas. The park includes picnic areas and group picnic shelters available for reservation. Popular activities include beachgoing, boating, fishing, disc golf, and enjoying the panoramic views of the Columbia River Gorge. The park is especially busy during the first warm days of spring when wildflowers bloom and visitors flock to the sandy shores. Rooster Rock State Park does not offer overnight camping. The nearest campground is Ainsworth State Park, located approximately 10 miles east near Multnomah Falls. Visitors should note that camping is not allowed on Sand Island or anywhere within Rooster Rock State Park boundaries.
