About

Guy W. Talbot State Park, also known as Latourell Falls Trailhead, is a peaceful day-use park situated along the Historic Columbia River Highway in the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area. The property was donated to the state in 1929 by Guy Webster Talbot, former president of Pacific Power and Light Company, who had used it as a summer estate. The park serves as the trailhead for Latourell Falls, featuring a moderately difficult 2-mile loop trail that passes under a historic 1914 bridge to the base of Lower Latourell Falls, a dramatic 224-foot plunge over columnar basalt covered in chartreuse-colored lichen. The grassy grounds provide an ideal setting for picnicking and relaxation. A modern picnic shelter is the only reservable facility, accommodating groups of up to 200 people. Restrooms are available at the shelter but are closed from November through March. This is strictly a day-use park with no overnight camping facilities.
